Robust, truthful information is indispensable for a free democratic society. Scientific knowledge is thus a resource for public debate that is particularly worth protecting.
In our vision, journalism recognises the relevance of this knowledge and, whenever it needs it, always has access to the best possible information from the sciences. In our ideal world, journalism is also in a position to critically scrutinise
science and thus trigger knowledge-based societal discourse. Through our work in journalism, we want to contribute correct, important information about science and actively campaign against disinformation.
We always strive to communicate truth and knowledge to society. To this end, journalism is indispensable to us.
We say what’s what
Especially when it is uncertain or complicated. Processes and problems in our society are characterised by complexity that must be recognised as such and addressed by journalism. Simplification at all costs can be misleading. With the help of data and expertise we want to offer guidance and classification and, if
necessary, express well-founded criticism.
We know where the knowledge is
We find people who are competent in their specialist area and spend a lot of time accumulating scientific expertise and sound knowledge about the science system. Our database contains qualified experts on many socially relevant topics to support journalists with sound expertise.
We experiment
In our own team and together with external partners we discover and transfer new technologies from the fields of data science and artificial intelligence to journalism. We want to make it easier for journalists to conduct more intensive searches and ensure relevant scientific information is usable.
Our team stands behind our jointly developed values and tries to put hem into practice every day.
