Marleen Halbach Theile

Marleen Halbach Theile is editor-in-chief at the SMC. After earning a degree in biology at the University of Hamburg, she studied science journalism at TU Dortmund. As part of her training, she completed a traineeship at the SMC and, from 2017 onward, worked as an editor for medicine and life sciences. She has headed the editorial team since June 2020. During her training, she also completed internships at Forschung aktuell at Deutschlandfunk and at Radio Wien (ORF). In 2021, she received a special award of the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Science Journalism on behalf of the editorial team.
